The BME has won the EU funding project "Procure2Innovate". "As a coordinator, we will make our contribution to the modernization of public procurement," Dr. Silvius Grobosch, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics e.V. The goal of the initiative, which is funded by the EU Commission and is limited to four years, is the networking of new and existing competence centers for public procurement in Europe. Grobosch: "This is all about promoting innovation. The BME assumes the coordination and communication function. It makes us proud that we were able to successfully prevail over our European competitors with our project proposal. "
A total of ten EU countries are cooperating with Germany, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Spain and Portugal with the aim of increasing the innovative strength of public procurement. Due to its many years of experience with KOINNO - the competence center for innovative procurement in Germany - the BME has been managing the work of the ten EU Member States since February 2018. These will network at the institutional level within the project "Procure2Innovate". The aim is to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, cooperation and exchange of best practices in the field of innovation procurement, and to develop strategies to support public purchasers. In addition, the project partners design a common position on the tasks of modern public procurement and represent them vis-à-vis politics.
"'Procure2Innovate' joins the internationalization strategy of the BME and completes the already closed cooperations and activities with European partner associations and organizations," explained Grobosch. In addition, the BME will become the mouthpiece of public procurement in Europe. "In addition, we get insights into the respective markets and the drivers," concludes Grobosch.
